The push/fold lesson taught the binary core of shallow play: below roughly 15bb the tree collapses to jam-or-fold, and this app's charts grade exactly that. Published solver analyses of real sub-10bb play (GTO Wizard's Playing Under 10bb series, 2026) show what the binary model leaves out — and most of it surprises players who learned the old "gamble and get it in" school. Their findings, attributed throughout to that work:

1. Recheck depth every orbit.Restate your stack in big blinds; the shove threshold arrives sooner than feel suggests.
2. Shape the shove range.Favor raw equity and blockers — offsuit aces, small pairs — over postflop playability.
3. Apply the half-width call bar.Call shoves only with hands beating more than half the jamming range; widen only from the blinds.
4. Leverage the stacks behind you.At lopsided tables your shove folds medium stacks more often — their isolation fears do your work.

• The min-raise dies around 9bb. At nine big blinds the open becomes a shove for almost everything — except pocket aces, which keep min-raising as a trap, wanting action. Below about 7bb even the aces join the shove range, because giving the shoving range leverage matters more than trapping.
• Shove ranges change SHAPE, not just width. Deep ranges widen through suited hands because they play well postflop; shove ranges widen through offsuit ace-x and small pairs instead — raw equity and blocker value, since there IS no postflop to realize playability with.
• "Stealing fold equity." A short stack at an asymmetric table shoves WIDER than at a symmetric one: the medium stacks behind face isolation dilemmas against the bigger stacks still alive, and fold hands like small pairs they'd happily call heads-up-all-in. Your weakness becomes their awkwardness.
• Call-off heuristic: call ranges run a little over HALF the width of the shove range they face — the bar is beating more than half the shoving range, not beating "some" of it. The blinds are the exception: posted money plus closing the action lets the big blind call wider than the shove itself.
• Shallow defends prefer CALLING. Against a bigger stack's open, a 7bb big blind calls very wide instead of jamming — the solver finds shoving hands like nine-six suited costs over a full bb versus calling them, because the call keeps the worse hands in and the jam only ever gets paid by hands ahead.
